Geale vs Mundine

IBF Middleweight title fight - Geale vs Mundine
Well it's happened, finally Daniel Geale has acted revenge on Anthony Mundine for his controversial loss to him in Brisbane in 2009.

I was one of the many who felt that Geale won it the first fight in 2009, but on this occasion Daniel Geale really danced rings around Anthony Mundine and fought a fight that no-one could ever get wrong!

Geale continuously spun Mundine in circles landing shots and disapearing before Mundine could even get an eye view of his positioning.

Mundine was visibly confused and concerned from the outset. He adopted and unusually wide stance, continuously propped his elbow up trying to keep Geale away from him and resorted to attempting to bore in thus forcing head clashes that he was quite obviously the instigator of!

Personally, I found it hard to see where any judge could have given Mundine any round of the 12 fought at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. As I said before I (and probably 90% of others) thought Geale won the first fight at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in 2009 but that was a closer fight and the judges could have that one scored closer... But not this one!

Geale always looked in control, always on balance and never ever flustered or concerned. In fact, after the fight he looked as though he could have gone another 12 to 15 rounds at the same pace.

My read on the fight was that Geale fought a very professional fight. Mundine never, from the very first punches, wanted to make the fight. So from that, Geale did what he had to, to win! In my belief, if Mundine had of actually come out from behind his corner to fight, Geale would then have gone the extra mile and knocked him out. But, why should he take unnessesary chances when your opponent is going to just hand it to you without a fight.

Just ask Manny Pacquiao about where taking chances gets you!

I remember Eveander Holyfield once being interviewed and him saying, 'If they come after me, I'll knock em out... If they don't, I'll just beat them!'

Now, what of Mundine's reaction?
I heard one reporter saying, 'His corner wasn't giving the right instruction!'
Let me tell you, your corner doesn't need to give you the right instruction in a fight as one sided as this one. He knew he was well beaten, that is why his reaction after the fight was like it was.

Jumping up like the victor up on the ropes!! that looked as fake as it could be!

Whinging about the judges scorecards!

Saying he punched Geale 12 times to 3... Where did that one come from? it was a 12 round fight Anthony, I reckon both of you landed more than those numbers put together!

Now the one that said it all 'I ain't giving that boy another payday!'... If that isn't an admission of who actually won the fight, then what is!?

To say those words like that say's to me that he knows he lost this fight, coz any other fighter who really thought he won it, would be wanting a re-match next week or even in the car park!

I had it 120-108 every round to Geale.. The judge that had it 116-112 must have been chatting up the ring girl coz where he found 4 rounds to give Mundine I don't know? and then the other 2 judges 117-111, again, I'd ask them to genuenly watch this one again and tell me where they could give Mundine 3 rounds?

Anthony Mundine's reaction post fight was deplorable! His mate Sonny Bill (who is fighting a 44-45 year old fat man who's well past it) needs to start thinking before he does... Wouldn't he get a shock if Botha decides to train for this one?!

I believe Mundine did have a good ability for an Aussie fighter, but I have never thought of him as truly World Class. Geale proved to me, he's on the verge of being an elite fighter... I sure hope he gets to win his WBA title, he was strpped of, back before he has to defend against Soliman, who shocked Sturm on the weekend (I'm afraid on another dubious decision).

I think Danny Greens description of Mundine was a classic and a laugh... so don't turn away until you see this, what a screem...
Cheers
